Carl August Reichenbach and Carl Buz acquire the Sander’sche Maschinen Fabrik.

First German "printing press using continuous paper" at the World Fair in Vienna.
 
1896
Former Vogtländische Stickmaschinenfabrik J.C. & H. Dietrich (embroidery machines), founded 1881, expands its production portfolio to include printing presses.
 
1898
Vereinigte Maschinenfabrik Augsburg and Maschinenbaugesellschaft Nürnberg A.G., Augsburg (from 1908: Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg AG).

1931
First high-performance, rotary webfed press with an output of 25.000 16-page newspapers per hour.
 
1947
Plamag makes the calendar-block rotary press - the first press to be built following the end of WW II.
 
1960
Three quarters of the total editions of German daily newspapers are printed on presses made in Augsburg.
 
1962
Introduction of the LITHOMAN series; a new generation of web offset presses for commercial printing with heatset inks on coated paper.
 
1979
Merger of Roland Offsetmaschinenfabrik Faber & Schleicher, Offenbach, and the printing press division of MAN, Augsburg, to establish MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AG, Offenbach/Main.
 
1990
MAN Roland bought the Maschinenfabrik Plamag in Plauen.
 
1994
The LITHOMAN press becomes the preferred printing system for commercial web offset. With its broad range of additional components it can be expanded into a multifunctional production system for meeting all kinds of customer requirements.
 
2001
Introduction of the COLORMAN, XXL for newspaper printing with web widths of up to 2.100 millimeters.
 
2005
Strengthening of service competencies: active marketing of PRINTVALUE with printcom, printnetwork and printservices.
 
2007
Robots enter the printing industry with APL.
 
AutomaticPlateLoading (APL) with a four-axis robot arm for plate change.
 
2008
MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AG becomes manroland AG.
 
2011
First commercial web presses of the 96 pages LITHOMAN are producing.
 
2012 Possehl Group, Lübeck, acquires the webfed division Augsburg of manroland AG. New name of the company: manroland web systems.
